When it comes to the first hour of the day, it's a known fact that it can be the difference maker, but for lots of young adults, mornings are a battle against the alarm clock and getting out of bed often leads to procrastination instead of productivity. If you’re fed up with starting the day in a whirlwind, racing against the clock, then it’s time to claim the power of a positive morning.

Psychologists have told us for awhile that our mindset can be a determining factor in our daily performance, and a positive outlook in those early hours is guaranteed to give a boost to motivation and productivity. It is basically creating a mental landscape that helps us glide over the obstacles that we inevitably come across.
You may not know this but the key to turning your mornings around is simply establishing a routine that puts you in a good mood and sets you up for the day ahead is what gets you going. There are a few things to think about when constructing your morning routine, but here are the top suggestions:
**Wake Up Early**: Give yourself at least a minimum of 30 minutes before diving into the day's duties. Getting up and at it early gives you time and space to calm down, center yourself and get ready to tackle your day.
**Hydrate and Nourish**: Starting your day with a refreshing glass of water and a fire breakfast will give you the energy you need to kick-start the day. Properly feeding your body and mind is one of the best investments you can make in the first hour of the day.
**Exercise Your Body and Mind**: Stretching and physical activity, even light exercises, will give you an endorphin rush and set a positive tone. Meditating and mindfulness also cut through clutter, clearing space for creative thoughts and problem-solving.
**Set Intentions**: Spend a few minutes reflecting on what you want to achieve that day and writing down your goals to help you prioritize tasks and keep your mind sharp on what truly matters. And I've found that a few simple practices can put me in a positive mindset, when starting your day on the right foot can be a game-changer.

Gratitude journaling, for example, takes just a few minutes a day, but it gets me out of bed and refocusing on what’s going well in my life, and it's no coincidence that this positivity carries me through the day.
Another effective way to kick-start the day is to craft and say positive affirmations out loud. These short, daily reminders can be things like “I am capable of achieving my goals” or “today I will have a productive day,” they build confidence, and encourages positive thoughts.
Also, another trick I use to start my day in a positive mood is to limit screen time as soon as I wake up sets a different tone for my day.
I find it's healthy to disconnect from the digital world and take some time before diving into the chaos the internet and social media bring.
When looking to channel my energy in my day with more efficiency as well, I've found if I spend the first hour more positive than I normally would I have the upper hand when taking on challenges. Coming into them clear-headed, knowing exactly what I want and what needs to be done gives me the creativity and grit to work through the difficulties I come across, and that initial happiness is what gets me excited about my projects and makes me stay invested in them, so that I can deliver really engaging and fulfilling days.
Another reason to stay on a positive train of thought is because when you start your day with positive energy it can be contagious and can be noticed by those around you.
This isn’t just confined to personal relationships, it also affects the work environment, and has even been observed to make me come across as someone who is empowered, efficient and full of energy. When I know that any minute spent on being a positive person, will make a tangible difference in my life, it makes me kick-start my day more ambitious.

When looking back on difficult days, if I was stuck, not moving forward, now know that change is possible and I can say anything can change.
Taking small steps in the morning will often lead to big improvements. Setting an intent to turn your day around by focusing on the positive, gives yourself a tremendous gift. The more positive you start your day the more powerful it will be.
